How to Fish the Stillwater Smack-it

Like Many People I love wooden plugs, but the open water and sand plains of Crane Beach are made for plastic lures. There are tons of companies out there making sparkly lures will with all kinds of mysterious things inside of them, but the Stillwater smack-it is the best of the bunch! I purchase a bunch of them every year for Crane's. Now, they do not come with the fancy & much needed VMC hooks. I recommend that us retrofit the center hook with one but do no not change the tail hook! A key to fishing this lure is letting the tail sit down in the water. It is this tail down effect that adds to its effectiveness. Not only does it give the bass a target to hit but allow you to play the lure longer in the fishes strike zone. Since Cranes is an open plain the surface disturbance this lure creates along with the rattle of the mettle BB's in side attract fish big & small. You can fish this lure fast & slow but either way it's worth owning a few Jr smack-it and regular smack-it's this year.

How to Fish Stillwater Smack-it
When you take your first cast let the lure hit the water and sit for a few seconds. These lures sit tail down in the water and it's this tail down effect that adds to its effectiveness. After a that few seconds pull the lure forward lightly as to move the lure 1-2inch and just enough to make a light splash. Try to do this three times in a row and then let the lure sit for a second or two and the repeat the pattener. Over time you will find diffent patterns of movement with sometime change your luck.
