Palomar Knot

I'm a big fan of the knot A; because it's simple to tie & B: it has yet to fale me!

I tie the line directly to the lures rather than using a leader. I find that I get better action at longer distance; movement & sound. Now, I do lose a lot my of my lures but I do catch more fish and that is the name of the game.

tubs
I like putting my fancy lures in these tubs? I'm sure everyone has there own way of transporting their lures but for me this is the simplest & most organized way. Any give day I'm only going to use 4 kinds of lures so 3 tubs of lures saves tons of space it my bag. Plus they look cool & chicks dig them! These are sold at Surfland.

If its not broken than do not fix it! It takes a little longer to brake in but it last long and works just as well as anyother line.

stillwater smack-itWell I can't say enough about this lure! It the best of the bunch for this beach and I have had some very good luck with them off the rocks as well. Pick a few of these up this year if you do not have them already. Link How to use

Rebel jumping minnow

Jumpin minnow BUY THIS LURE! You should have two of these guys on you at all times! Link How to use

gibbsGibbs Not the best lure for off Cranes beach but it can catch fish in this color. Unlike the popers with the concave face this popper is narrow at the top and then tapers down to a spherical stern. As a result, this plug sits in the water and when it is retrieved will slash and cut the water to excite a strike. So pick your color and make this plug dance from side to side to get a surface strike. site afterhoursThis is a must have lure! It casts awesome into the strong wind. It is one of the best big water little lures you can use i.e works in waves 2 feet or bigger. This lure will find fish even without magic sound makers inside. It also will last longer than any plug you own! It comes in white as well as yellow. You SHOULD fish this lure so get a few of these little guys. I fish the 1 1/2 oz& 2 oz size. Now they are hard to find on the northshore so use his site to order the right color & size Site
aStorm These soft-plastic swim baits are favorite spring lures & fish really love them. I use this lure in the back at the start of spring to see if any fish have shown up yet. Plugging from April 15 to May 10 or so is a good idea if you need to practice casting a new lure, but do not expect to catch too many fish. I use the storm to cover as much of the Essex river system as i can. Its also a good beach lure as it torments bass. Also, the neon green color works but this is best color of the bunch. size 1-3 inch! if you fish the cannel & bell rd you can get the 7 inch psycho size. site jbLemire Plugworks I have not put this guy in the water but it looks extar cool! will it work? well here is WHAT THEY SAY ".Designed off an old freshwater classic, this plug is killer for striper fishing and bluefish. I believe this is the first thru wired saltwater rigged wooble plug ever produced commercially.  Find a nice rock pile or jetty and work this plug slowly while stopping every once and a while and twitching the rod a couple of times. This will throw a lot of water and drive the fish crazy".; WILL IT? BUY ONE & FIND OUT! :)
rmsmithRM Smith This is an awesome lure that can cast as far as any you own. It’s a great big surf lure, calm water lure and is deadly when the fish really do not want to eat. The paint and design make this lures action deadly in the water. The only problem is that it’s hard to find so if you come across this lure buy two for the year even if they cost to much! . . site 22This 7", 2oz plastic plug is like fishing with a soda bottle but it catches big fish! One fisherman, that will remain nameless, hooked what would have been a 40 pound+ fish with one of these off Crane's this summer... before he lost it. It has super-long casts properties and a weight that forces the lure to sit tail down in the water as its retrieved. All of these qualities creates a bobbing target for big bass. The number one color seems to be Blue and it's the only blue lure I would use on the beach.7', 2 oz... the least expensive pencil popper!
aBomber A-Salt This night time swimmer that is always nice to have at night. Just walk down the beach at night, cast to out into a location where you think you might be & retrieve very slowly so it appears like wounded fish. I have seen other people use them at sunup to catch big fish but the most effective guys have used flashlights to make there eyes glow before casting. site ocean luresOcean lures Surface Swimming, super summer lure & the upgrade paint makes this a knockout lure! These lures are 100% AMERCICAN MADE! With thought wire construction & extra strong materials. This is lager version 1.25 oz in yellow but there are more colors see there SITE. SOLD at surfland.
aRebel This little clown jumping minnow was destined for the lure graveyard, but local fishermen liked it so much they kept it alive for the New England market. You can thank Kay up up at Surfland for that. Dead or alive most guys that fish it swear by its magical powers! Its also funny that Gibbs is make a whole line of happy rainbow lures now site 1Rebel This a good alternative to the White Jumping and works very well when matched with extra hard bait runs. For some reason this lure worked very well off the front when other Lures did not, so it's worth picking up two. site
20Striper Sniper; This little guy is a ton of fun! I take one of the VMC hooks off the back & add a lighter hook with some sparkles because everyone loves sparkles! Nevertheless, its a very high quality lure that works well & can be fun lure to work when you want to torment bass in the Essex river system i.e. not a great beach lure. Also, the green color here is the best color of the bunch. (people love the spooks he makes) Web site norhbar

Northbar Tackle Looks like Yankee fans use this lure but it also looks like a neat lure to have in your box. The lure is extremely versatile for fishing current? Its also looks to be a night lure that could be a tad more fun than a needle fish? Not sold on the northshore but run one down if you can Site

spook1R.I.P Lures picked these guys up they are very nice lures for off the front of cranes. This green, olive, white guy looks awesome! It also has sparkles! & you know how I like sparkles! all wood with VMC hooks but I think i will be adding a feather to the tail. spook2R.I.P Lures picked these guys up they look to very nice lures for off the front of cranes. This green, white guy looks awesome as well! Plus it also has sparkles! These two guys could work very well off the main beach in the summer and i will be trying them off the new sand bars in the bay.
ripblackR.I.P Lures little Black Peanut Swimmer lure is a very nice night lure. Even if I hate fishing at night I need something to do why am waiting on false dawn. It is small, hand crafted and it has sparkles!
